MGOA Applauds Passage of Gun Shield Law

"It's a great day in America when common sense prevails." That's how Jeff Weinstein, President of the Maine Gun Owners Association responded to the news that the "Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act" overwhelmingly passed the US House of Representatives today. The Act, which passed the US Senate in July, is imminently expected to be signed into law by President Bush.

Weinstein further went on to say, "We've recently witnessed a number of outrageous lawsuits brought by some irresponsible lawyers and overly ambitious prosecutors who have attempted to blame the gun manufacturers for the unlawful use of its products. The frivolous lawsuits against gun manufacturers will now be a thing of the past. Hopefully, this will allow federal, state, and local agencies to concentrate on the real problems of prosecuting and appropriately incarcerating criminals who use guns during the commission of crimes".
